Email addresses

Create an address

Route an address to an endpoint, or create a store-only inbox.

POST/api/v1/addresses
cURL
curl -X POST "https://inboundr.net/api/v1/addresses" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $INBOUNDR_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "domainId": "<domainId>",
    "localPart": "<localPart>",
    "endpointId": "<endpointId>"
  }'

Creates an explicit route for one local part on a domain. With an endpointId, matching mail is delivered to that webhook; without one it's store-only (kept for retrieval). See Addresses & routing.

domainIdstringbodyrequired

The domain the address belongs to (dom_…). Must be yours.

localPartstringbodyrequired

Everything before the @, e.g. support. 1–64 chars, lowercased; letters, digits, and ._+-.

endpointIdstringbody

A webhook endpoint (ep_…) to deliver to. Omit for a store-only inbox.

Example response

201
{
  "id": "addr_123",
  "domainId": "dom_123",
  "localPart": "support",
  "endpointId": "ep_123",
  "active": true,
  "createdAt": "2026-07-20T10:00:00.000Z"
}

An address claims its local part even without an endpoint, so a store-only address is never sent to the domain's catch-all.
